My List of 7 Underrated Bands
Inspired by Mr. Paul Armstrong, here is my list...Love to hear yours...
Thx, Paul, for more music I have to download now. :) No, I checked out some of the bands you mentioned and liked them. Downloaded some Elbow (interesting name) from emusic. Good stuff. I would humbly add..
Electronic
Johnny Marr and Bernard Sumner from New Order got together Post Smiths. Well, i enjoy one of their albums anyway. Their self-titled debut. I have played the heck out of that thing.
Over the Rhine
Anyone? Ok, if you live in Cinci, they are nothing new. But I remember the first time I heard her sing. Man, what a voice. I would highly recommend their Christmas cd (also on emusic). I used "Redemption Song" for our Advent video loop. It rocks.

West Indian Girl
This is a group I just found online. Don't remember how. Kind of indie psychedelic rock. Which is interesting cuz I have never done drugs nor have I ever been into the 60's. Just not ever. But these guys are sweet.

Graffiti Death Threat
I saw them live in a club here in Phoenix. With about 12 other people. And I couldn't believe how much I liked them. They do the dj loop/rap/guitar sorta thing. I was impressed. The dj even gave me his dvd for free. Just did a little research. Don't even know if they're still together. But they are on emusic!
Tom Conlon
Another band/guy I heard live. In a coffee shop in Cincinnati actually. Some of his songs seem more haunting, real acoustically/live. But I still play his cd three years after I saw him once.

Plus One
This is slightly embarrassing. These guys were known as the Christian Backstreet Boys. And perhaps it was a phase. But these guys were really talented. They broke up after a few yrs. I don't think it had anything to do with the fact that I saw them live with 1,000 screaming 12 yr olds (and their parents) at TriCity Church of the Nazarene in Cinci.

The Gotee Brothers
I don't like rap/hiphop that much. And I really don't find a lot of Christian hiphop I like for sure. Produced by Toby Mac of DC Talk and includes one of the girls from Out of Eden (another Christian hiphop group), their cd "Erace" was thought provoking. The loops pull you in then the words hit the heart. Good stuff according to this white boy. And that ain't no joke.
Ok, it's not definitive. But it's what I could come up with at 6:32am.
Peace.
