Flag & the Canyon
Kira, Eric, and I had a verrry relaxing few days in Flagstaff this weekend. Well, did I say relaxing? At least Sunday was. Saturday...that was another story...

Yes, my wife talked me into hiking the Canyon again. Well, halfway at least. And I gotta tell ya...it ain't no cakewalk. Each time I've done it (ok, this makes twice), I literally didn't think I was going to make it.

It didn't help that we passed a guy that didn't make it out for real. We saw him puke twice as we passed him..and he just did not look good. Luckily, he had some good friends with him. On our way up (when I had doubts of how I was going to make it), we saw a helicopter airlift this guy out.

Thanks to a volunteer ranger who hiked the Bright Angel on her day off helping folks, I got a little boost around the 1.5 mile mark. She gave me some of her crackers and some gatorade to throw in our Camelback. That Gatorade. Man, it helps.

After the hike, we had an awesome time resting and relaxing with some of Kira's college friends. Thanks Ketters (and Cutlips!). The Ketters have an amazing log-cabin style custom home that Brian built himself (he's a verrry talented builder). We had fun eating, playing games, and going to church with the Ketters. If you've never been to "Flag", you need to check it out. It was just listed by Nat'l Geographic as one of the top places to live. Pray that God would send us there. :)

After lunch on Sunday, Kira wanted to check out her old stomping grounds at NAU. It was cool b/c a lot of the students were just arriving to campus with their kids. Of course, they all look like junior high'ers to me. Even Eric said they look young. When a 22 year old says college students look young, I'm officially old. It was great to just hang out, lay on the grass.

The drive back was incredible, too. We went through Sedona and stopped at my favorite picture spot there. Ahhh.....what a great weekend.
